February 10th, 2009

Things have gotten a little bit crazy for us this past week. Both of the girls have been sick, James has been super busy with basketball, and Kayla had her baby. Emerson woke up wheezing last Wednesday morning, and we took her to the doctor that same morning. They originally thought she had RSV, but thankfully she didn't! She had a double ear infection, but didn't run a fever or act sick. If she hadn't had the respiratory problems, we wouldn't have known she was sick. Stella ended up getting sick a few days later. We think she picked something up in the doctor's office. They are both back on the nebulizer for now. We have decided to keep the girls in as much as possible for the rest of RSV season. We have come too far to get RSV now! Here are some silly pictures from this week:

Kayla had William August on 2/9/09. He weighed 9lbs 6oz and was 23 1/4 inches long! BIG BOY! We are calling him Pudge! Kayla, Wade and Pudge are all doing very well.

When did our crazy babies become CRAZY TODDLERS?!

We had a busy week last week! Mamaw Ruth turned 50, James had a crazy basketball schedule, and Stella was sick most of the week. We celebrated Mamaw Ruth's birthday on Saturday night and had a great time. Stella is doing much better now, and we are very thankful that nobody else got sick. We also put away our baby bottles last week and transitioned to sippy cups! Stella was very attached to her bottle and put up a good fight, but mommy always wins! Emerson had been doing better with a sippy, and the transition was pretty easy for her. I am so thankful to be done with bottles!
Our family has decided to participate in the March of Dimes-March for Babies this year. We are very excited about the opportunity to celebrate and honor Emerson and Stella. We are trying to get a lot of people to walk with us, and would love to have our family and friends join our team. We will also need people to sponsor our team. You can learn more about March of Dimes and our team by clicking on the Sponsor Me Banner on the right side of the blog. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

We finally got a video of Emerson walking! After we shot the video we realized that we should have had her walk the other way so you could see her face. BUT she refused to walk when we tried to get another video! She is walking very well, but only walks when she feels like it.

The girls had developmental clinic this week. They both did very well, and are developmentally right where they should be (for their adjusted age.) Emerson weighed 19 1/2 lbs, and Stella weighed 19 lbs! We have been looking forward to 20 lbs since the day they were born, so we are really excited to be getting so close! Emerson has taken 4 steps without assistance, and will walk all over the house if you hold her hand. Stella is starting to stand independently, but only when she feels like it. She isn't as interested in walking as Emerson is right now, but she loves looking at books and having books read to her. Stella also seems to be much more interested in communicating and talking.

This post is dedicated to our silly Stella. She is turning into a funny little girl with a big personality. She is always doing things to try to make us laugh. Below is a picture of her first big girl bow (that Emerson pulled out a few minutes after the picture was taken.) She finally has just enough hair for me to get a rubber band around. The bow might be a little big for her, the picture reminds me of Minnie Mouse! I also attached a video of her dancing. Emerson usually dances with her, but I was only able to get a video of Stella doing it this time. Enjoy!

Over the weekend, James' parents came to visit and celebrate the holidays with us. The girls enjoyed spending time with their Grandma Natalie and Grandpa Kim, and also enjoyed all of the Christmas presents that they brought with them! Emerson still isn't walking, but it still seems like it could be any day. Emerson has 5 teeth now, and weighed 18lbs 4oz last week. Stella is getting really close to walking and is very proud of herself! Stella hasn't let us look in her mouth for the last few weeks, so she could have a mouth full of teeth and we wouldn't know! Stella weighed 17lbs 15oz last week! They are both eating better and gaining more weight since switching over to whole milk.
