March 25th, 2008

Our friend Sharlla came to our house last night to take 6 month pictures of the girls. Eric and Brandi decided to come over too so we could get pictures of Ruthi with the girls. Well, things didn't go as well as we had hoped. When we took the girls Christmas pictures, they were still young enough that they slept through everything. I had no idea that taking pictures at this age would be so difficult! The girls have great head control, but they hate being on their tummies and can't sit up independently yet. (And they don't sleep through everything anymore.) Ruthi is also at an age where getting good pictures can be painful. All three of the girls really did a great job, and we managed to get some really good pictures before the meltdowns began! In other news, Stella rolled over (from tummy to back) three times on Sunday! Emerson is now eating her cereal like it's her job, and Stella is also getting the hang of it!

March 22nd, 2008

We are sorry that we haven't posted for so long! Our lives have been a little bit crazy! Last weekend was mommy's birthday. I went shopping on Saturday and left James in charge. He did a great job! Then on Wednesday we went to the doctor for 6 month shots. Unfortunately, the girls also had to get their RSV shots that same morning and then they ended up getting their flu shots that afternoon too. It was a rough day! According to the scale at the doctor's office, the girls didn't gain any weight, but the doctor felt that they had gained weight and it was just the difference in scales. The doctor said that they were both where they needed to be on the growth curve, and they had both grown about 3/4 of an inch since our last update! Their heads are getting huge! The pediatrician was really happy about their head growth and said that it is a good indicator of healthy brain development. I had told many of you that I was going to try to skip cereal and wait a while on giving the girls baby food. Well, our pediatrician didn't agree with me, and said that developmentally, the girls are ready for cereal. So, the girls are now eating rice cereal once a day. Emerson loves her cereal, and Stella is starting to get the hang of it too. We will probably start offering veggies in a few weeks. Both girls found their voices this week too. They have both become very vocal. Stella laughed on Wednesday night! The best part is that we were able to get it on video (at the bottom of the blog.) Emerson has not laughed yet, but she seems to be getting close. They are both starting to suck on their hands a lot, and they both seem to be working on their first teeth. We are going to have another busy week this week. They will have their first Easter. Then they go back to Boone on the 27th for developmental clinic. We are really excited to take them back and show off our big girls! Then we will celebrate daddy's birthday on the 28th!

Why would you suck on your own hand, when you can suck on your sister's hand?!

Our girls are 6 months old! They are getting so big! We are having so much fun with them. It seems like they are doing something new every day. I don't have much of an update since I just posted a few days ago. We go back to the doctor next week for our 6 month shots, and I will post their weights again then. Here are some pictures from this week:

10 POUNDS!!!!
Emerson and Stella got weighed today! Emerson is still bigger, but Stella seems to be catching up. Emerson weighed 10 lbs 12 oz and was 22 inches long! Stella weighed 10 lbs 5 oz and was 21.5 inches long! They will also be celebrating their 6 month birthday on the 11th! They have come so far in 6 months! Yesterday, they both ALMOST rolled over...they are getting so close. They are also really starting to interact with each other. They seem to know when I get the camera out though because they stop as soon as I try to record them. Yesterday, they were laying on the floor playing with each other and Emerson started to get fussy. Stella put her fist up to Emerson's mouth, and Emerson sucked on Stella's fist until I got the camera out. It was so cute, but of course I don't have a picture of it. Maybe next time...

Happy girls!
This is one of my favorite pictures of the girls together so far.
