The girls went for their first boat ride on Father's Day. They hadn't been on the fishing boat yet because we have had some difficulty finding tiny life jackets. We finally found life jackets, they loved the boat, and their daddy and papaw even dipped their toes in the water! James is dipping Emerson's toes in the water in the picture below.

Papaw Marty helped Stella dip her toes in the water.

Pretty soon they will be ready for fishing poles!
Relaxing with papaw and daddy.

For those of you that don't know, Stella hates riding in the car! Holding her hand is one of the only things that seems to help her calm down temporarily. Emerson refuses to hold her hand, and it is very difficult (and painful) for me or James to hold her hand for long periods of time. Cousin Ruthi was riding with us last weekend (yes, we had three car seats in the backseat of our car) and she held Stella's hand for the 20 minute ride. Stella adores her "big cousin."

The girls had their 21 month check up today. Emerson weighed 20lbs 12oz and was 31.25 inches tall. Stella weighed 20lbs and was 30.25 inches tall. Their heads were in the 75th and 80th percentiles for their actual age! Our pediatrician is really happy with their growth.
We took the girls to get their summer pictures taken last week. They were awful! They ended up having to sit on our laps for pictures because they were so upset. We barely got a picture of them together, and the one we were able to get isn't very good. The pictures above are after editing (we bought the cd) and the ones below are before editing.

We had to sit on the floor with a sheet over our legs, and let the girls sit on our laps. You can see James' blue shirt on the right hand side. This was the best picture we could get of them together.
It was a little easier to get individual pictures, but Stella didn't want to have her picture taken at all. She is sitting on my lap in this picture.

Emerson was slightly more cooperative than Stella, but refused to take her shoes off.

This is my favorite picture of Stella from the day.

The girls went on their first camping trip this weekend! We took them to Montauk State Park to camp with Mamaw Ruth, Papaw Marty, Uncle Al, and cousin Jeremy. We weren't sure how they would do sleeping in a tent, but they slept great! They played hard and didn't have a problem falling asleep or staying asleep.

This was at the hatchery with Papaw Marty.

Emerson loved playing in the sand!

Stella did too!

More playing.

Stella ended up skinning up her knee again and needed another band aid.

We took the girls to Bloomington, IN this weekend to visit family. The girls loved Aunt Karen & Uncle Larry's golf cart!

They treated it like their own personal jungle gym!

Emerson really liked the steering wheel!

Cousin Gennie shared her popsicles with the girls.

Stella liked playing with Aunt Karen's toys!

Stella loves cookies!

After we left Bloomington we spent the night in Vincennes with some good friends. With their two boys and our two girls, things got a little bit crazy! This is Emerson and Sam hanging out.

Sam, Luke, and Stella seem to be having some sort of meeting.

Emerson loved Luke's fireman hat!

All four crazy kids playing together!

Stella is a rock star! She got through her surgery without a problem, and we were able to leave the hospital around 10am! They ended up removing her adenoids, and she has tubes in both ears.

6am-This was taken in the surgery waiting room. She was so hungry! She kept trying to get into the diaper bag to find food.

7am-This was in the holding room with her wearing her mini hospital gown. She was freaking out because she was hungry and the surgery was postponed an hour.

8am-Stella after a sedative. It was so sad. She didn't even have head control.

10am-Going home! We didn't get any pictures in the recovery room because Stella was violent when she was coming out of the anesthesia. It was a little bit rough. I think they may have discharged us a little early because she was being so loud and crazy. Oh yeah, and the nurses gave her a bottle! This is her enjoying a bottle...she hasn't had one since January.

Brittni brought her new puppy over this week. Stella was fairly indifferent.

Emerson couldn't get enough of the puppy! She loved it!

Stella had her pre-op appointments today. Our first appointment was with the ENT that will do her surgery. He decided that it would be beneficial to x-ray her adenoids to determine if she needs to have them removed when they put the tubes in her ears. After we left the ENT's office we went to Regional hospital for her x-rays. Then we went to our last appointment of the day at University hospital to meet with Anesthesiology and pre-register her. It was a long day, but we were able to get a lot done. Her surgery will be Thursday morning. We still don't know if her adenoids will be removed. I guess we will know on Thursday!
Mamaw Ruth and Papaw Marty came out to our house to spend the day with Emerson (so we didn't have to drag two babies around all day!) Cousin Ruthi ended up coming out to play too, and Ruthi and Emerson went swimming together. Thanks Mamaw Ruth and Papaw Marty for watching Emerson and having dinner ready for us!
