March 16th, 2010 continued
James and I spent the day of my birthday at Balducci's Winery in Augusta, while Mamaw Ruth and Papaw Marty watched the girls. We needed to do a little shopping after we left the winery. James rolled his ankle playing basketball last week and insisted on using a motorized cart in Target! We had a great day together, and are so thankful that Mamaw and Papaw watched the girls for us. Thanks Mamaw and Papaw!
March 16th, 2010
The girls are still recovering slowly. They haven't had fevers since the weekend, but their coughs are getting worse. We are hopeful that the coughing is a sign that we are almost done with RSV. We are going to try to send them back to preschool tomorrow. These are some of the pictures that we have taken over the last few weeks.
Before the girls got sick, we took them out to Dennis and Sharlla's farm so we could enjoy the beautiful weather. The girls love talking about horses and cows, but were scared to death of the horses when they saw them up close! Stella was hanging on to James for dear life!
This picture was taken a day or two after they got sick. They left the living room and got really quiet, and when I went in to check on them they were playing together.
We have tried several different options to make the breathing treatments more exciting. The coloring in the high chair method was effective for less than 2 minutes!
We also tried to get one of them to entertain the other one during breathing treatments. That method also failed miserably. After giving breathing treatments around the clock for a week, we have come to realize that there is no easy way to do them.

Another quick update:
The girls are doing okay, and they are both showing small improvements every day. They are definitely still sick though. The antibiotics don't seem to be helping much yet, but their fevers aren't as high anymore. We are still doing round-the-clock breathing treatments, and the girls hate it. They fight the treatments the entire time. It is pretty awful. We seem to be staying ahead of the sickness. I am so glad we took them to the doctor so quickly. The girls aren't eating much right now. Hopefully, they will get their appetites back soon. Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers. We appreciate all of the support.

Quick Update:
The girls started having breathing problems yesterday, and they both went downhill quickly. We gave them breathing treatments through the night, and Stella didn't sleep very well. Mamaw Ruth and I took them to the doctor this morning, and they have RSV. Their initial strep test was negative, but our doctor was going to send it to the lab too. We won't know about the strep culture for 48 hours, but they are being treated with the same medications either way. Our doctor said that it was really good that we caught it so quickly because RSV tends to turn into pneumonia. I am so thankful that the girls didn't get RSV last year or the year before because it would have been much worse. I am bummed that we are dealing with it now, but we are hopeful that it will be over quickly.
In other news, we recently discovered that one of our kittens (Colt) is living at a house down the street from us. We haven't seen any signs of Hoosier, but it is nice to know that they ran away and nothing bad happened to them. When Emerson saw Colt outside of the neighbor's house today she said, "He is a bad cat!" Then she decided that she wants a new cat! She talked about her new kitty for at least a half hour!

James' basketball season ended on Tuesday, and his baseball season started on Wednesday! The girls and I are so fortunate to have a husband/daddy that is such a good provider and hard worker. Hopefully, the weather will continue to cooperate so we can attend some games.
Mamaw Ruth is taking the girls to their first tumbling/gymnastics class next week. We still haven't decided if we will sign them up for regular classes or not. We will see how they do next week. I can't believe my babies are old enough to go to a tumbling class!
The girls have been going through coloring books like crazy! They both love to color. I try to make it to Target every few weeks to stock up on $1 Elmo coloring books. When I gave them their new coloring books this week, Emerson said, "This is SO COOL!" We are pretty sure she picked up that phrase at school! It was hilarious!
Stella is finally starting to do better on short car rides, and she loves to sing "E-I-E-I-O" in the car. I love listening to them sing together in the back seat. Old MacDonald's farm usually only has cows though!
Last weekend, James put together the girls' picnic table that Grandpa Kim and Grandma Natalie got them for Christmas. They love sitting at the table and working on puzzles and coloring. We are looking forward to moving their picnic and sand tables outside this weekend when it is warm!
While I was working on dinner one night this week, they set their table and then prayed before they "ate!"

The girls were sick for most of last week. They were nice enough to share their germs with me, James, Mamaw Ruth, and Papaw Marty. I think we are all finally getting healthy again. Now, we just need some warm weather!
I just looked back at our blog posts from March 2009. I can't believe how much the girls have changed! They really do grow up too fast, but since I don't have a pause button I am trying to enjoy every milestone. I am really enjoying this age. It seems like the girls are constantly learning new things. They are extremely vocal, and they say the funniest things! The girls are able to tell us what they want and need, and they aren't frustrated by the language barrier anymore. We are still experiencing temper tantrums, but the fits are more for the sake of creating drama now!
They love chocolate milk (Ovaltine.) When we ask Emerson what she wants to eat for dinner, she always says, "Crackers!" Stella always wants pizza for dinner. They even tell us when they are ready to go to bed! Last night, they asked to go to bed before their bedtime. They are also very proud of all bodily functions right now. They both love to say, "I just tooted!" I love my girls!
I didn't take many pictures last week since we weren't feeling good. I took these pictures while the girls were cuddling on the couch on Friday.

Going back to work has been a nice change of pace for all of us! The girls are loving "school" and the extra time they get with Mamaw Ruth on Tuesdays! They both transitioned into our new schedule like champs! They are such big girls!
Unfortunately, they got sick again as soon as they went off their antibiotics last week. We took them back to the doctor on Monday, but our regular pediatrician was out of town. We saw a different nurse practitioner who recommended that we work on managing the girls' asthma and allergies rather than just treating the symptoms with antibiotics when things get out of control. We were so thankful for a fresh perspective, and we are very hopeful that we can manage their asthma and allergies with the new meds.
Emerson weighs 27 lbs! She is starting to get bossy too! Last week she wanted something that was in another room and she said, "I want daddy to get it!" She is definitely the first born! It seems like she never stops talking. She is becoming very observant. While eating breakfast a few days ago she looked outside and yelled, "It's snowing!" She also says that Rambo is a "snowman" when he goes outside to go potty. She is always trying to make us laugh.
Stella weighs 26 lbs! She is also talking non-stop! Stella is mastering potty training, and can stay dry most days. She is very proud of her Elmo panties! Stella loves to have her hair blown dry after bath time and loves to pose in the mirror too! She is very proud of her new haircut. Stella's favorite activity (right now) is coloring. She even holds her crayons between her thumb and forefinger like a big girl!
The girls got several Valentine's Day cards in the mail, and they loved playing with them all! Their favorite cards were from Mister (Aunt Karen & Uncle Larry's dog). It had a picture of Mister on the front of the card, and the girls carried them around talking about "Bubby" all afternoon! Thanks everyone for the cards! I tried to get a picture of them holding all of their cards, but they were being stinkers.
Grandma Judy was able to get a few pictures of the girls at their school Valentine's day party. Stella does not look very happy in this picture. I imagine that she didn't want to stop playing and sit down for pictures!
More school. Emerson's 2 year molars are finally coming in. She constantly has her hands in her mouth.
The next two pictures are of Stella posing in front of the mirror while I am blow drying her hair.
She is such a poser!
